State officials say South Dakota is receiving more than $677,000 as part of an anti-trust settlement involving ticket sellers.

South Dakota was one of 40 states that filed a lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, according to Attorney General Marty Jackley’s office. The two companies merged in 2010.

“Live Nation created an illegal monopoly that raised costs for entertainment in South Dakota shows. This settlement will improve entertainment pricing with competition,” said Jackley. “I appreciate the U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Bondi for their leadership in this lawsuit.”

The settlement requires Live Nation to let rival companies list show tickets on their platforms and caps exclusivity contracts with venues at four years. Jackley said SOuth Dakota is one of several states to have formally settled its portion of the lawsuit.

• Prizes of $101 or more: Must be claimed from the Lottery. By mail, send a claim form and a signed winning ticket to the Lottery at 711 E. Wells Avenue, Pierre, SD 57501.
• Any jackpot-winning ticket for Dakota Cash or Lotto America, top prize-winning ticket for Lucky for Life, or for the second prizes for Powerball and Mega Millions must be presented in person at a Lottery office. Several top state officials are taking part in a South Dakota Trade mission to Japan and South Korea.

Lt. Gov. Tony Venhuizen is leading the delegation. He’s joined by Ag Secretary Hunter Roberts, Governor’s Office of Economic Development Commissioner Bill Even, South Dakota Trade President Jesse Fonkert as well as several business industry leaders.

Officials say the mission aims to strengthen commercial relationships with two of the nation’s most important allies in Asia. Both Japan and South Korea are top soybean export markets.

“We’re bringing a strong delegation and a clear message: South Dakota is Open for Opportunity, and our producers and businesses are ready to compete on the world stage,” Venhuizen said. “South Dakota is a state that punches far above its weight in agricultural production, and missions like this ensure buyers across the globe know just how strong our economy is.”

South Dakota Trade coordinates several missions like this each year. Recent delegations visited Mexico, Ireland, Canada and South Africa.
