Rapid City local wins South Dakota Lottery jackpot on ‘605 Day’

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – June 5 is known as ‘605 Day’ in South Dakota, referring to the state’s area code in phone numbers.

One lucky individual purchased a South Dakota Lottery ticket on 605 Day at the Orchard Meadows Common Cents gas station and won a jackpot of $137,037. The gas station on Highway 44 just south of Elk Vale Road is one of the area’s biggest. Some employees hadn’t heard about the big win yet, and they said they were thrilled to hear that the winning ticket came from their workplace.
