Ramsdell Appointed as U.S. Attorney for South Dakota
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota federal court docket officers have appointed a U.S. lawyer who will serve till the place is stuffed by a presidential nominee.
Alison Ramsdell was sworn in as prime federal prosecutor on Thursday and began the job on Friday. She first joined the workplace in 2014 as an assistant U.S. lawyer and has led the district’s civil division since 2016.
Ramsdell replaces Dennis Holmes, who introduced his retirement earlier this week. Legal professional Basic Merrick Garland appointed Holmes as U.S. lawyer for 120 days in December following U.S. Legal professional Ron Parsons’ resignation.
“It’s a profound honor to serve the District of South Dakota on this capability, and I’m deeply grateful to be doing the work alongside such distinctive colleagues,” Ramsdell mentioned in a press release.
Ramsdell obtained her bachelor’s diploma from Valparaiso and her legislation diploma from the College of Iowa. She lives in Flandreau along with her husband and two sons.
