Mutli-sport Billings West star Drew McDowell to play baseball at South Dakota State

BILLINGS — Billings West’s Drew McDowell, a multi-sport standout both with the Golden Bears and Billings Scarlets for baseball, has picked the diamond for his college sport as he signed with South Dakota State baseball Wednesday.

Billings West’s Drew McDowell, also a player for the Billings Scarlets, signed Wednesday to play college baseball at South Dakota State.




McDowell, a Class AA Montana-Alberta American Legion Baseball All-State selection this past summer as a pitcher with the Scarlets, will join a Jackrabbits program which has a pair of Montanans on the roster in Jess Bellows (Miles City) and Cade Stuff (Great Falls).

The West senior was also the Bears’ starting quarterback in football this past season and has additionally suited up for West in basketball.

SDSU, a NCAA Division I school, went 24-28 overall last season as a member of the Summit League.
