10th annual Frost Fest highlights winter activities in Brookings

BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Whether you enjoy a winter ball, ice fishing or hot drinks, Frost Fest has all the indoor and outdoor winter activities to make the colder months of the year fun.
From February 16 – 18, area attractions will showcase their winter-friendly activities in Brookings.
Some events include a Snow Ball and meal at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, an ice carving demo in downtown Brookings, a Doggy Date Night at McCrory Gardens, a sled hockey Tournament and ice fishing at Dakota Nature Park.

SOSD State Summer Games to be held at USD, SF Torch Run happening May 28

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The 2025 State Summer Games for the South Dakota Special Olympics are set for May 30 and 31 in Vermillion.
SOSD State Summer Games:
Over 1,500 athletes, coaches, and unified partners will compete at USD.
Competitions include volleyball, powerlifting, swimming, soccer, and track and field.
Volleyball, powerlifting, swimming, and soccer competitions will take place on Friday, May 30, and track and field events at the Lillibridge Track Complex on Saturday, May 31.
Volunteers are an important part of the event. You can find available volunteer opportunities for the event here.

Sioux Falls Torch Run:
The Sioux Falls Torch run will be on May 28 at 11:00 am.
The “Flame of Hope” will be carried from the Sioux Falls Police Department to Falls Park.
“The awareness and funds raised through the Torch Run have created a movement and helped provide new opportunities, competitions, and programs for the athletes of Special Olympics. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our law enforcement volunteers across the state,” said South Dakota Law Enforcement East River Assistant Director and Patrol Sergeant for the Watertown Police Department, Scott Price.
