Potential Harris VP pick ripped for ‘weird’ socialism comparison to 'neighborliness'
Minnesota’s Democratic Gov. Tim Walz was blasted on social media after telling a group of Democrats that socialism is what some people would call “neighborliness.”
“Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values,” the Minnesota Democrat said on a “White Dudes for Harris” call on Monday night. “One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”
The comment was widely criticized by conservatives on Twitter, including Manhattan Institute senior fellow Ilya Shapiro, who responded on X with “weird,” a reference to recent Democratic attacks against GOP presidential candidate JD Vance and former President Trump.
“Neighborliness killed members of my family,” journalist Karol Markowicz posted on X.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is believed to be a top candidate to be VP for Kamala Harris.
“One person’s gulag is another person’s vacation home,” conservative commentator Ryan James Girdusky posted on X.
“Oozing of desperation from the man who let Minneapolis burn for days,” former Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Mike Murphy posted on X.
“Send this guy to campaign in South Florida,” National Review’s Jim Geraghty posted on X.

“Socialism = ‘neighborliness’ for the freakish Left… Shows how far we’ve fallen that the Governor of one of our states feels free to say this,” American Majority CEO Ned Ryun posted on X.
“Taking people’s stuff at gunpoint doesn’t make you a good neighbor,” Nate Madden, an adviser to Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, posted on X.

Fox News Digital reached out to Walz’s office for comment but did not receive a response.
Walz is widely believed to be on VP Kamala Harris’ short list for vice president and it was reported Tuesday that she is expected to make her decision by next week.
“Whether he makes it or not, there’s no doubt MN Gov. @Tim_Walz is running the most aggressive campaign for VP in the field,” former Obama adviser David Axelrod said this week.

BISMARCK, ND – Multiple North Dakota Lottery players have won big over the last seven days, one hitting a $150,000 Powerball with Power Play prize and four others winning $22,000 2by2 jackpot prizes! The $150,000 Powerball with Power Play ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball (22, 23, 28, 36, 54; Powerball 13; Power Play 3) on the Monday, March 9, draw. The four, $22,000 2by2 jackpot prizes were won on March 3, 4, 6, and 9.
The Powerball prize was $50,000, but as the player had also purchased the Power Play option, the ticket is worth $150,000. The lucky ticket was purchased via the North Dakota Lottery’s Pick & Click online play service by an anonymous player from Bottineau and the player has yet to claim the prize. The Pick & Click online play service gives players the option to buy tickets, – via the Lottery website or mobile app – for a single draw, multiple draws, or four weeks at a time with a subscription.
The four, $22,000 2by2 jackpot winning tickets were sold at Cenex (209 4th Ave SW, Garrison), Hornbacher’s Osgood (4151 45th St. South, Fargo), Petro Serve USA (W. Main St., Valley City), and Berger’s Landing Strip (100 A Avenue, Emerado). All four retailers will each receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning 2by2 tickets. The prizes won in Fargo and Valley City have been claimed by anonymous players from Fargo and Rogers, ND.
“The lottery luck continues in North Dakota” said Thomas Lawler, director of the North Dakota Lottery. “Over the past three months, North Dakota Lottery players have won thirteen $22,000 2by2 jackpots, and two $150,000 Powerball prizes. 2by2 has had 763 jackpot winners and 32 Tuesday Doubler jackpot winners since the game launched in early 2006.” Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

When Ohio State coach Ryan Day hired Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator in January, it mirrored a staffing move from the previous offseason.
He found a coordinator with a deep NFL background
Smith had been in the league for more than a decade, rising through the ranks from a quality control coach to head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
It was a similar path to Matt Patricia, who made a splash in his first year as the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator after a long career as an assistant and head coach in the NFL.
The immediate success of Patricia, who kept the Buckeyes as the top-ranked defense in the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2025 despite heavy roster attrition, offered a blueprint for the other side of the ball with Day leaning into a CEO-style role leading the program.
“It allows me an opportunity to kind of step away,” Day said, “and really dive in everything else and be more present in the building with players, staff, and certainly with the NIL stuff and raising money. It’s a different mindset.”
Day first hired an established play-caller for his offense when the Buckeyes won the national championship in 2024, bringing in his coaching mentor Chip Kelly as the coordinator.
Kelly also had four years of experience in the NFL between head-coaching stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. But he had not gone directly from the league to Ohio State, having spent six seasons coaching UCLA in the immediate years before his move to Columbus.
As Day considered Smith in his latest coordinator search, he valued his postseason experience. In each of Smith’s four years as an offensive coordinator between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans, the teams made the playoffs, including the Titans’ appearance in the AFC championship game in 2019.
The expansion of the College Football Playoff has put a premium on teams peaking at the right time in December and January, requiring them to play as many as 16 or 17 games, approaching the length of the NFL’s 18-week, 17-game regular season.
“We’re trying to build an identity that carries throughout the entire season,” Day said. “When you have somebody like Arthur who has been through playoff games and played through a long season in the NFL, you have to build toward the end of the season. That’s the goal for us, because when you think about the way things are structured now, you’ve got to be building toward the end of the season.”
The Buckeyes hit a wall down the stretch last year. After finishing the regular season with an unbeaten record, they lost consecutive games to Indiana in the Big Ten championship and Miami in the playoff quarterfinals to end the year.
In two postseason losses, the Buckeyes, who averaged 37 points per game during the regular season, totaled just 24 points.
