Portion of Ohio 40 could become ‘Deputy Matthew Yates Memorial Highway’

Sep. 17—A portion of Ohio 40 could also be designated as Deputy Matthew Yates Memorial Freeway if laws launched within the Ohio Home of Representatives on Thursday passes.

Home Invoice 720, launched by State Rep. Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield), would designate a portion of State Route 40 between Tuttle Street and Ohio 54 for the memorial freeway.

Yates, 41, died after being shot whereas within the line of responsibility on July 24. He was responding to an incident that left two others — Jodie Arbuckle and her son, Cole White — lifeless at Concord Estates Cellular Residence Park in Concord Twp.

He was a 15-year veteran of the Clark County Sheriff’s Workplace.

“Deputy Yates devoted his life to the town and residents of Springfield and he paid the final word worth to guard his group. The outpouring of help from our group has merely been the affirmation of the affect that Deputy Yates had on those that knew him,” stated Koehler.

Koeheler stated that the street naming is “only one extra small factor” the group can do to honor Yates and his household.

The laws awaits a committee task.

Yates “devoted his life to creating his group higher,” Clark County Sheriff Deb Burchett stated at his August funeral at Springfield’s First Christian Church. “Matthew can be overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection for him.”
