Ohio deputy killed by gunfire at mobile home park

CLARK COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX/Grey Information) – A veteran deputy sheriff in Ohio was killed within the line of responsibility after responding to a report of an individual shot inside a cell residence.

Clark County Sheriff Deborah Ok. Burchett mentioned the incident occurred Sunday morning in Concord Township. She recognized the deputy killed as Matthew Yates, a 15-year member of the division, in accordance with WXIX.

Concord Township is about 40 miles northeast of Dayton, about midway to Columbus.

Burchett offered additional particulars in a ready assertion late Sunday. She mentioned deputies responded to the Concord Estates Cell Residence Park after a 911 name reporting that an unknown feminine broke into the residence and fired 5 to 6 pictures.

When deputies arrived, they tried to examine contained in the cell residence and had been met by gunfire. Yates was struck and went down inside the house.

Clark County Particular Operations, of which Yates was a member, and several other different tactical groups had been referred to as in to rescue the deputy. He was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital, the place he died of his accidents.

“My condolences and deepest sympathies for the family and friends of Clark County Deputy Matthew Yates, 15-year veteran of the power, who was killed by gunfire right this moment. Thanks to all our legislation enforcement who danger all the things to maintain our communities protected,” he wrote.

Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley additionally tweeted, “My coronary heart goes out to the family members of Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Yates who was killed tonight within the line of responsibility.”

The Ohio Bureau of Prison Investigation is investigating the incident.
