Memorial Day: How to report an unkempt Ohio cemetery

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – Memorial Day weekend is approaching and with it a time when many Ohio cemeteries will appeal to guests eager to honor those that died whereas serving within the navy.

Throughout this time, the Ohio Division of Commerce is asking those that see any improper upkeep of those cemeteries to report it to cemetery administration.

“For a lot of Ohioans, Memorial Day is greater than a time to barbecue or a day without work from work,” stated Commerce Director Sherry Maxfield. “It’s a time to recollect those that gave their lives in service to this nation. Cemetery visits play an essential function on this event. We encourage those that go to their family members and heroes to report any points to the cemetery property house owners. If points can’t be resolved domestically, don’t hesitate to contact our company.”

The ODC has legal guidelines and tips for the upkeep and operation of cemeteries to assist preserve cemeteries clear and welcoming, a launch by the group stated.  These tips embody chopping the grass at the least as soon as a month and eradicating trash and funeral flowers month-to-month, together with sustaining and repairing roads, buildings and fencing as crucial.
