Buckeyes rout Campbell, stay alive in NCAA

Sophomore Allison Smith pitched a one-hitter and three Buckeyes homered as Ohio State defeated Campbell 10-0 Saturday in an NCAA softball regional in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Buckeyes (36-16), face Oregon State in an elimination sport later Saturday, with the winner advancing to the regional championship towards Tennessee at 2 p.m. Sunday, with one other sport after that if wanted.

Smith struck out 5 and walked two.

Ohio State jumped out to a 3-0 lead within the first inning on an RBI single by Sam Hackenbracht and a two-run house run by Niki Carver.

Taylor Pack homered within the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead. The Buckeyes added three extra runs within the fifth on Kaitlyn Coffman’s fielder’s alternative and a two-run single by Taylor Heckman. Hackenbracht hit a three-run homer within the sixth to cap the scoring.
