Two Jamestown teenagers injured in crash south of Jamestown

JAMESTOWN — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday, May 26, about 20 miles south of Jamestown, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

A 17-year-old Jamestown male was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion northbound on U.S. Highway 281 near the intersection of N.D. Highway 46 at about 5:30 p.m. An 18-year-old Jamestown man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado that was located on the west side of the intersection of Highway 281 and Highway 46.

The patrol said the driver of the Chevrolet failed to yield to the right of way when traveling eastbound across the intersection, causing the Ford to strike the front passenger side of the Chevrolet. The patrol said the Chevrolet entered the northeast ditch, struck a powerline pole and came to rest facing northeast, while the Ford came to rest in the northeast part of the intersection facing southwest.

The patrol said the 17-year-old male suffered serious injury and was not wearing a seatbelt. The 18-year-old man had a minor injury and was wearing a seatbelt.

Both drivers were transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

The 18-year-old man was charged with failure to yield to right of way, the patrol said.

The patrol is investigating the crash.

The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and Jamestown Rural Fire Department also responded to the scene.
