Two-car crash on Highway 2 west of Grand Forks leaves one seriously injured

EMERADO, N.D. — A two-vehicle Tuesday afternoon crash on Highway 2 near Emerado left one person seriously injured.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Highway 2, approximately 3 miles east of Emerado, a small town west of Grand Forks.

The rear-end crash involved a 2011 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 32-year-old man from Larimore, and a 1976 Ford LT8000, driven by a 23-year-old Emerado woman. The Larimore man suffered serious injuries, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Names were not released by the Highway Patrol.

According to the report, “the Ford was eastbound on US Highway 2, in the right lane, slowing to prepare for a right turn. The Chevrolet was eastbound in US Highway 2, in the right lane. The Chevrolet struck the rear of the Ford and came to rest in median ditch, facing southwest. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Altru Hospital by Altru Ambulance Service. The Ford came to rest in the right lane of travel, facing east. The driver was uninjured.”

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Agencies that responded included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, Emerado Police Department, Emerado Fire & Rescue and Altru Ambulance Service.

The Highway Patrol said the driver of the Silverado was not wearing a seatbelt.
