WEST FARGO — On Wednesday, June 14, the North Dakota Autism Center helped fill up bellies for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

They partnered with Heart-N-Soul Community Cafe for their annual food truck series.

“Food brings people together, people congregate around the table and love to eat and talk and so ultimately you now bringing those that want to get their names out as far as the food trucks but also bringing people to us to talk a little about what we do,” said Tom Kopp, director of mission development for the North Dakota Autism Center.

Heart-N-Soul is a nonprofit serving locally-grown fresh food and operating under a pay-what-you-can model.

Every Wednesday from now until September, the North Dakota Autism Center will invite a new local food truck to their parking lot. Each food truck organization shares a similar mission of helping people or the community.

“Ultimately it’s just the discussion of what we do. We don’t really profit from any of this. It’s just a collaboration between the food truck and North Dakota Autism Center,” Kopp said.

About 40 people came out to enjoy grilled cheese & salami sandwiches, chips, salads, spring harvest bowls with oat groat risotto chicken, asparagus and mixed greens. Then there was a side of strawberry rhubarb crisp as desert.

Kopp said Heart-n-Soul was very accommodating and they always have one or two items of food choices on their menu with a side of dessert.
