Some of North Dakota’s newest police officers are ready for the workforce

GRAND FORKS — Wednesday, Aug. 16, was graduation day for some of the newest peace officers in North Dakota, after completing summer academies in Grand Forks and West Fargo.

Inside the Red River High School Auditorium, 13 officers graduated from the Lake Region State College’s summer training program. Ten already have jobs, with eight going to the Grand Forks Police Department, two going to Three Affiliated Tribes, and one will be working for the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office.

West Fargo will be holding its graduation ceremony on Thursday. After West Fargo’s graduation, three graduates will work with the West Fargo Police Department and one will work with the Dickinson Police Department.

Since 1987, the Lake Region Peace Officer Training Program has graduated 14,000 students hired by 116 different North Dakota law enforcement agencies.
