NWS meteorologist says parts of North Dakota and Minnesota will stay dry for a while

FARGO — Recent updates from the

U.S. Drought Monitor

shows that pats of eastern North Dakota and north western Minnesota north of Highway 2 are severely dry.

Areas around Towner and Cavalier, North Dakota, along with Ramsey and Benson Counties are now considered to be in extreme drought.

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks says this will continue to affect ranchers and farmers growing corn and soy beans because the forecast continues to look dry.

“The problem with summer precipitation is somewhat hit or miss,” said Grand Forks NWS senior meteorologis Jennifer Ritterlinger. “Some areas will get a large amount of rain from a thunderstorm and other areas will get next to nothing or nothing at all.”
