North Dakota Delegation Urges President Biden to Approve Disaster Declaration

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven and Congressman Kelly Armstrong urged President Biden to approve Governor Burgum’s main catastrophe declaration request for the January 16-20 extreme winter storms. The request for federal pure catastrophe restoration and mitigation sources was on behalf of Burke, Divide, McLean, Nelson, Renville, Sheridan and Walsh counties.

“North Dakota skilled energy outages and vital impacts to electrical infrastructure attributable to freezing fog that was adopted by an ice storm. The distinctive climate sample created devastating impacts all through the state by downing energy strains and making roads unsafe,” wrote the delegation. “North Dakota continues to work to harden infrastructure, promote resiliency and mitigate potential harm in future disasters. Whereas these efforts proceed, unlocking Federal help by way of a presidential catastrophe declaration is important for North Dakota’s restoration.”
