New North Dakota law will require the use of turn signals when exiting roundabouts
FARGO — A new North Dakota law will make it mandatory for drivers to use their turn signals when exiting a roundabout. The law goes into effect on Aug. 1.
Sergeant Wade Kadrmas, safety and education officer for the North Dakota Highway Patrol, said drivers will need to use their turn signal just after passing the exit prior to the one they plan on using to leave the roundabout — even if it only blinks once or twice.
There is a $20 fine for not following the new law.
Kadrmas also said the law is meant to increase communication between drivers and help the flow of traffic.
“That only helps other traffic coming into the roundabout. They’re able to enter it sooner, and just to keep that steady flow,” Kadrmas said.
