Medina woman dies after vehicle runs into slough west of Jamestown

CLEVELAND, N.D. — A 64-year-old Medina woman died after her truck went into a slough south of Cleveland, North Dakota, on Thursday, Aug. 3.

According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the patrol and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office received a report shortly after 3 p.m., that a vehicle had possibly entered a large slough 7 miles south of Cleveland.

A state trooper arrived on scene and found a vehicle had left the roadway and entered the slough, the report said. The Stutsman County Dive Rescue Team then found a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 fully submerged in the slough.

Rescue crews were able to remove the woman from the pickup and attempted to perform life-saving efforts, but the female was pronounced deceased on scene, according to the report.

The woman’s name has not yet been released, and she was not wearing a seat belt, the report added.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Cleveland is about 20 miles west of Jamestown.
