Man overboard near Van Hook Resort
NEW TOWN, N.D. (KFYR) – The Van Hook Resort Facebook page has reported a man who fell overboard Monday afternoon from his boat has not resurfaced near the resort in the Van Hook Arm of the Missouri River.
They say if you’re on the water, be on the lookout for a person in a yellow shirt, approximately 70 years old.
The MHA Emergency Operations Center said that teams began conducting search operations by water, air, and land within 30 minutes of the 911 call that was made around 2:40 p.m. Monday.
North Dakota Game and Fish, New Town Fire Department and some private boaters are on the scene searching for the person.
Officials ask the public to give emergency responders adequate room to work with minimal interruption both in the identified search area and near the western Van Hook Boat Launch for the safety of search teams and efficient response.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Mountrail County Sheriff at 701-629-2975.
