Man dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound following standoff outside Mayville

MAYVILLE, N.D. — A person died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a rural Mayville after a prolonged standoff with police on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Regulation enforcement officers from the Traill County Sheriff’s Workplace, North Dakota Bureau of Prison Investigation (BCI) and the Division of Homeland Safety tried to serve a search warrant to a resident farmstead, in keeping with a report from the Traill County Sheriff’s Division.

A 59-year-old man barricaded himself in an inside room inside a store constructing, in keeping with a report.

The Grand Forks SWAT Crew, together with the bomb squad and disaster negotiator have been referred to as in to help in negotiations.
