Driver killed after colliding with semi in north-central North Dakota
MINOT, N.D. — A driver died in a collision Wednesday, June 14, at an intersection about 18 miles south of Minot, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 83 and North Dakota Highway 23.
An eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Highway 23 failed to yield to a southbound 2021 Freightliner truck, the patrol said.
The driver of the Freightliner tried to brake but struck the crossing pickup, according to the patrol.
The pickup driver, a 57-year-old man from Stevensville, Montana, died at the scene. It’s unclear whether he was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
The driver of the Freightliner, a 57-year-old Bismarck man, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
The names of the drivers have not been released. The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
