Bid placed for next step in Highway 85 expansion
BISMARCK, N.D. (KUMV) – The North Dakota Division of Transportation has authorised a contract to start building work to increase Freeway 85.
The division introduced they’ve accepted a $77 million bid from Central Specialties to create a four-lane freeway between Watford Metropolis and the Lengthy X Bridge. Cal Klewin, govt director of the Theodore Roosevelt Expressway challenge, mentioned it’s a couple of 10-mile stretch that runs by components of the badlands.
“This area proper here’s a robust space in North Dakota to construct roads. You may see that by the price of it, but it surely’s going to be nicely price it when it’s completed,” mentioned Klewin.
Klewin added that building work will begin later this spring.
The Theodore Roosevelt Expressway is the northern a part of the Ports to Plains Alliance, a deliberate four-lane hall connecting North Dakota and Montana to Laredo, Texas. The expressway contains US-85 from Williston to the South Dakota border, US-2 from the North Dakota border to Culbertson, and Montana State Freeway 16 from Culbertson to the Canadian Border.
About 47% of the two,300-mile hall has been upgraded to 4 lanes.
Klewin says the following step is to safe funding for the development of Freeway 85 from the Lengthy X Bridge to Freeway 200 close to Grassy Butte, then from Freeway 200 to I-94.
