Adoption through fostering process streamlined in North Dakota
MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) – North Dakota Children and Family Services streamlined the adoption through the foster care process while cutting back on old processing fees.
Administrators looked at the overlap between the adoption and fostering processes and combined steps where they could. Family Services said this should mean fewer home visits and less paperwork without sacrificing quality.
Foster Parent Bailie Graner adopted one of her children through the process before the redesign.
“It took us eight months, and now we’re looking at 60 days. We went from 44 pages of paperwork to 18,” Graner said.
Children and Family Services is also working with Adults Adopting Special Kids, which should help make adopting through that service more efficient as well.
