Nebraska women’s basketball earned their biggest win of the year on Sunday afternoon when the Huskers upset the No. 2 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes 82-79. The Cornhuskers played Sunday’s game in front of a school-record sellout crowd of 15,042 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Jaz Shelley led the way for Nebraska, scoring a season-high 23 points. Iowa star Caitlin Clark finished with 31 points, ten assists, and eight rebounds but went scoreless in the fourth quarter.

She is now eight points away from passing Kelsey Plum as women’s college basketball’s all-time leading scorer. After winning on Sunday, head coach Amy Williams said days like this make her proud to be a Cornhusker.

“On days like today, I’m just so proud to be the head coach at Nebraska and proud of this team and the way they showed great response all the way through the fourth quarter and found a way to win.”

With the win, the Huskers improve to 16-8 overall and 8-5 in the Big Ten. They’ll next take the floor on Wednesday when they travel to Columbus to take on No. 5 Ohio State.
