Obituary | Roger F. Riefler
Roger F. Riefler, 81, professor emeritus, died Might 1 at his Lincoln house along with his spouse Carol at his facet.
Riefler was born Sept. 10, 1940 in Oceanside, New York. He served in the USA Military from 1966 to 1968 with the Protection Division in the course of the Vietnam Conflict. Riefler taught on the College of Pittsburgh till he joined the College of Nebraska–Lincoln college in 1973. He was named a professor of economics in 1983, a title held till his retirement in 2005. Throughout his tenure, Riefler was the chair of the Division of Economics for 9 years.
He married Carol Kelsey on Sept. 1, 1962 in Mineola, New York. In retirement, the couple loved touring and Riefler’s instructing overseas.
In his spare time, Riefler constructed a mannequin railroad in his basement and loved displaying it to guests.
Riefler was preceded in dying by his mother and father, Frank and Madeline Rielfer (Freeport, New York). He’s survived by his spouse of greater than 59 years, Carol; brother, John (Etta) Riefler of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece, Laura (John) Hill; nephew Jeff (Emily) Riefler; sister-in-law, Jackie (Invoice) Spraul; nieces and nephews, Connie Quinlan, Jennifer Chewning, Brian Racanelli, Heidi Fredericks and William Spraul III; and quite a few nice nieces and nice nephews.
Providers are 11 a.m. June 6 at John XXIII Chapel, 3700 Sheridan Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the household requests memorials be made to scholarships in Riefler’s reminiscence on the College of Nebraska–Lincoln and Bowdoin Faculty. Condolences will be left on-line on the funeral house web site.
