Nebraska’s Kelli Ann Strand earns second Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week honor

LINCOLN, Neb. (Press Release) – Nebraska’s Kelli Ann Strand captured her second Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week award of the 2023-24 season when the conference announced its winners on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Strand, a sophomore from Challis, Idaho, opened Nebraska’s spring season with a tie for sixth in a loaded 96-player field at the UCF Challenge in Orlando (Feb. 3-5). Strand strung together a three-round total of 210 (-6), that included a second-round 68 (-4) on a 6,367-yard layout at the Eagle Creek Golf Club. She opened the tournament with a 70 (-2), before finishing with an even-par 72. Her performance was the best by any Big Ten golfer in a tournament field that included Northwestern, Michigan State and Penn State alongside the Huskers.

The weekly honor was the third of Strand’s young career, including her first Big Ten Golfer of the Week award this season on Oct. 11, 2023. She won the first award of her career on Sept. 15, 2022.

Strand shared this week’s honor with Minnesota sophomore Isabella McCauley, who tied for sixth at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 4-6). McCauley also produced a three-round total of 210 (-6).

Strand and the Huskers will be back in action at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational in Sarasota, Fla., Feb. 18-19.
