Former Nebraska assistant warden sentenced
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – A former assistant warden at a state correctional facility in Lincoln might be spending time behind bars — as an inmate.
Sarah Nelson Torsiello was led away in handcuffs in January. Courtroom information confirmed she had allegedly bought a “burner” telephone so she may talk with an inmate who had a contraband cellphone.
Torsiello reportedly admitted to having an intimate relationship with the inmate, who was serving a life sentence for homicide.
In trade for dropping two felony costs, Torsiello pleaded responsible to illegal acts with an inmate.
The decide sentenced her to at least one 12 months in jail.
Torsiello had been with the Nebraska Division of Correctional Providers in a wide range of capacities since 2003.
