Just because it’s getting colder does not mean there’s a lack of tourism options in Missouri.

Visitors have a wide variety of holiday-themed attractions across the Show-me State, according to Missouri Tourism Director Stephen Foutes.

“You don’t need to look much farther than Branson as a place that people know for holiday lights and all sorts of family activities,” Foutes told Missourinet. “Particularly, if you’re interested in holiday lights, you know Silver Dollar City has them by the millions (and) Big Cedar Lodge has them by the millions.”

Foutes said there are lots of holiday destinations across the state.

“In Kansas City, the plaza lights and the Kansas City Merry Market are huge activities for the winter months,” he said. “In St. Louis, there’s lots of things happening at Union Station, St. Charles has its annual Christmas traditions festival. You know, you could go to a small community like Perryville where they do Christmas country church tours.”

Foutes also said the timing for holiday tourism is coinciding with a drop in gas prices, making driving to and around Missouri more affordable.
