ST. LOUIS (KCTV) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an AMBER ALERT out of the St. Louis area after a child was reportedly abducted.

The alert has been canceled, but investigators are still looking for a suspect.

James Richardson Jr., 28, was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing a white shirt and tan shorts. He was driving a black Ford Escape with Illinois license plate number 61890RV. That vehicle was found, but Richardson was not, as of 11 a.m. on Saturday.

According to MSHP, Richardson Jr. took a 2-month-old child after assaulting the baby’s mother. He also took the mother’s car after making threats to harm the child. Authorities say he is known to be violent and have access to weapons.
