Minneapolis man convicted of murder in shooting during Inver Grove Heights drug deal

A Dakota County jury on Wednesday convicted a Minneapolis man of first-degree and second-degree homicide in reference to a deadly taking pictures throughout a January drug deal in Inver Grove Heights.

Prosecutors had earlier charged Gabriel Alfonso Sanchez Cruz, 44, within the Jan. 31 killing of 38-year-old Bryant Jon Lutgens of Burnsville.

Based on a legal criticism, Lutgens was shot within the head by a drug purchaser and left in a snowbank. The shooter then took off within the automobile Lutgens had been driving. Sanchez Crus was arrested just a few days later after he led Minneapolis police on a brief chase earlier than crashing Lutgens’ rented automobile.

The jury in Sanchez Cruz’s trial deliberated about two hours earlier than reaching a verdict. He’s being held within the Dakota County Jail pending sentencing on July 12.

These convicted of first-degree homicide may face a life sentence with out parole, whereas these convicted of second-degree homicide withstand 40 years in jail.
