Javon Lewis sentenced; 12 years in Milwaukee officer-involved shooting

A Milwaukee man convicted in connection to an officer-involved capturing close to 84th and Congress in June 2019 has been sentenced to 12 years in jail and one other 5 years of prolonged supervision.

A Milwaukee County jury discovered Javon Lewis responsible on Might 5 of two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering security – in addition to a cost of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Case particulars

Police have been responding to a home violence name close to 84th and Congress on June 8, 2019 when bullets began flying.

The preliminary name was home violence associated and somebody was being battered – and there was a gun concerned.

A felony grievance explains officers fired again at Lewis after he began capturing — and struck him.

Courtroom data present this was not Lewis’ first run-in with the legislation. Again in 2001, when Lewis was simply 15 years outdated, he admitted to capturing and killing a 38-year-old man.

No officers have been injured within the 2019 incident.
