Barring an unexpected trade, the Milwaukee Bucks have filled out their 15-man roster for the 2024-25 season. This gives head coach Doc Rivers the green light to start mapping out his rotation now that free agency has wrapped up.

It was a quiet offseason for Milwaukee, but they managed to acquire three solid veterans on minimum deals who can contribute right away. They balanced that with the infusion of youthful energy, selecting two 19-year-olds in the draft.

Gone are Malik Beasley, Danilo Gallinari, Jae Crowder, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and Patrick Beverley. In their place are first-round pick AJ Johnson and second-rounder Tyler Smith, along with free-agent signings Delon Wright, Taurean Prince, and Gary Trent Jr.

After taking a peek at their revamped depth chart, let’s dive deeper and predict how the minutes distribution might shake out for the Bucks’ rotation in the 2024-25 NBA season.

Point Guards

Damian Lillard (Starter): 33

The only true point guard on the roster, Damian Lillard, might once again be tasked with logging heavy minutes. He averaged 35.3 minutes per game last season, but Milwaukee might want to dial that back a bit to keep him fresh for a deep postseason run. Rookie AJ Johnson likely won’t be ready to contribute significant minutes yet, but Delon Wright (listed in the next category) can handle some of the point guard duties when Lillard heads to the bench.

Combo Guards

Gary Trent Jr. (Starter): 26

Delon Wright: 20

Gary Trent Jr. isn’t the perfect fit in the backcourt alongside Lillard, but he was the best combo guard available in free agency. He’ll provide elite spacing for Giannis Antetokounmpo and company, offering a slight defensive upgrade from Beasley.

Delon Wright, the Bucks’ best perimeter defender, will be the perfect complement to Lillard and Trent. He can step in for either of them or play alongside them. Meanwhile, rookie AJ Johnson will likely be buried on the bench, focusing on improving his game during his first season.

Wings

Khris Middleton (Starter): 28

AJ Green: 11

Andre Jackson Jr.: 11

Milwaukee would love to keep Khris Middleton’s minutes low, but that will largely depend on the performance of AJ Green and Andre Jackson Jr.

Green is one of the best shooters on the Bucks’ roster and works hard on defense, even if he is physically limited. Ideally, his minutes per game would creep toward 15, but that would come at the expense of someone else in the rotation. Jackson Jr. is the opposite type of player from Green, bringing more athleticism and defensive versatility. Rivers could alternate between these two in the rotation based on nightly matchups.

Forwards

Giannis Antetokounmpo (Starter): 33

Taurean Prince: 23

Antetokounmpo logged 35.2 minutes per game last season, his highest since 2017-18. Ideally, the Bucks would love to reduce that number to around 30 to keep him fresh, but that may not be feasible if they want to stay competitive in the Eastern Conference.

Rivers will have options when Giannis goes to the bench. Bobby Portis will see minutes at the four, and Taurean Prince can also slot in there. Prince will get some run on the wing depending on the lineup Rivers wants to deploy.

Bigs

Brook Lopez (Starter): 30

Bobby Portis: 25

Brook Lopez has been a model of durability throughout his career, but at 36 years old, Milwaukee needs to handle his minutes with caution. They could lighten his load by playing Antetokounmpo at the five, although both Giannis and the Bucks have been hesitant to fully embrace that shift. Balancing Lopez’s minutes while keeping him fresh for the postseason will be key to maintaining their defensive anchor’s effectiveness.

MILWAUKEE — New signage, shirts, bump stickers, and more for Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket are expected to start showing up in the next few weeks.

Volunteers and members of the Milwaukee County Democratic Party are now getting behind the Vice President, following President Joe Biden’s announcement over the weekend.

“It’s been nonstop in this office all day,” said Christine Sinicki, Milwaukee County Democratic Party Chair. “People are coming in, asking when we’re going to have signs, donating money, and asking how they can volunteer.”

Sinicki, who is also a delegate for the Democratic Party, said that people she’s spoken with are really excited to have Harris leading the Democrats into November.

“She embodies everything that I believe in,” said Sinicki. “Pro-choice, pro-worker, pro-family, and I’m just really excited to be able to support her.”

The news was welcoming to Cate Miller, who proudly displayed a Biden Harris political sign in her yard.

Miller now plans to volunteer as November draws closer. She thinks having Harris will add new energy to the race.

“I think she’s our best chance for the environment, for women’s rights, and for LGBTQIA rights,” said Miller.

Volunteer Julie Buckholt wants to see the Vice President look to the future and not just what she’s already accomplished.

“I want her to campaign on her issues and where she’s headed,” said Buckholt. “I want to hear about her, her issues, her policies, and what she’s going to do in the next four years.”

Buckholt and Miller said they don’t believe the rhetoric will change too much between Biden and now Harris at the top of the ticket.

“They were on the same page,” said Buckholt.

As to how Democrats plan to execute the new campaign plan, it still remains a mystery.

“Now, it’s just a matter of really revamping the script, waiting for the new literature to come in, the new signs, and just making sure we have people on the streets really talking about our ticket,” said Sinicki.

The biggest concern shared by Buckholt was starting over on the campaign trail. She shared that it’s similar to when President Biden announced he was going to run for president.

All three are looking forward to a new era for the party and are excited to see what the Vice President has to say on her visit to Milwaukee on Tuesday.

MILWAUKEE – Heads up to drivers heading towards Milwaukee’s lakefront: a section of North Lake Drive is closed, and will be through November.

Monday, July 22, was the first day of construction.

There was a lot of confusion, with drivers going the wrong way and turning around.

The Milwaukee Department of Public Works and Wisconsin Department of Transportation are reconstructing the street, starting with the northbound lanes from Kenwood to Edgewood.

“It’s just chaos,” said Steven Cefalu, who lives on Lake Drive.

City engineer Kevin Muhs said just the north half of Lake Drive is under construction until November. In the spring, construction on the southbound lanes will start.

“This is a full pavement replacement, which means we’re going down all the way to the bottom and rebuilding the street from the ground up,” Muhs said.

The project also adds protected bike lanes and pedestrian curbs.

“The detours use Oakland and Maryland because the Village of Shorewood does have a project going on on Downer Avenue right now,” Muhs said.

People who live on or near Lake Drive said the first day of construction was a mess.

“We saw four cars turned around and head into facing the traffic,” resident Peter Waldron said.

“Sometimes it’ll take us 10 minutes to get out of our driveway,” resident Steven Cefalu said.

It comes as I-43 is under construction, with long and short-term ramp closures from Brown Street all the way to Grafton.

While it’s an inconvenience, some people who live and drive on Lake Drive say it’s worth the long-term fix.

“I guess we’ll put up for it for a better road,” Waldron said.

“This is what it is, and we’re going to just hang in there and in the end we’ll have a nice street,” Cefalu said.

If driving in the area, make sure to follow detour signs. Many side streets in residential neighborhoods are unable to get through.
