LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Keeping you and others safe on the roads by limiting distractions is the goal of Michigan’s Hands-Free Driving Law.

The law went into effect in the spring of 2023, meaning it’s illegal for drivers to be on their phone or a device while operating a vehicle. Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth joins Mid-Michigan Matters to see how distracted Michigan drivers still are, and what needs to be done by drivers to ensure safety.
