This was no kanga-ruse.

An injured kangaroo was captured by authorities in Kansas after the wayward animal was spotted wandering along a highway, police said.

The young kangaroo embarked on the unlikely adventure after escaping from an exotic animal business, according to cops.

Photos released by the Edwardsville police department show officers trapped the marsupial in netting.

In a bizarre request, authorities then asked the public for help.

“If your Kangaroo wandered off last night, or you may have seen one in the area please let us know,” Edwardsville police said even though officers originally identified the animal as a wallaby, KMBC reported.

The owners of the kangaroo were ultimately located.

They told police they operate a business featuring exotic animals and the kangaroo managed to escape while being taken back from a petting zoo held at a local library, the station reported.
