Kansas Mission of Mercy still on, shelter to be provided
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation said this week that Friday’s and Saturday’s Kansas Mission of Mercy event in Salina will be held as scheduled in Salina and that a shelter will be provided for those waiting overnight.
Attendees are encouraged to bring personal items such as jackets, hats and blankets, and to continue to take prescription medications as directed and bring them along so a dose isn’t missed.
The Kansas Mission of Mercy is a large-scale dental clinic that provides free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care. Each year since 2001, the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation has hosted the weekend event — this weekend it will be held at the Tony’s Pizza Event Center in Salina.
Volunteer dentists and hygienists from across the state provide millions of dollars’ worth of free dental work, such as fillings, extractions and dental cleanings. It is a first-come-first-serve event and all patients have to wait in line. Approximately 700 people will receive services each day. No dental records or proof of income are needed.
