Settlement reached in fatal Iowa One Call violation – Radio Iowa

Iowa’s Lawyer Common has reached a settlement in a lawsuit with an organization over “Iowa One Name” violations that resulted in demise.

The Marion County swimsuit alleges MCS Communications failed on six events to name first when digging to put in fiber optic cable in Pella in 2020. An organization crew hit {an electrical} line with a jackhammer, ensuing within the electrocution of two staff and the damage of a 3rd in August of 2020.

Different excavations broken pure gasoline pipelines and a telecommunications line. MCS admitted to the violations and agreed to pay a $10,000 civil penalty along with injunctive reduction prohibiting future violations.
