Kenneth Hanson, age 79, of Washington, Iowa, handed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, on the College of Iowa Hospital after a quick sickness.
Celebration of life companies shall be held Tuesday, October 4, at 10:00 a.m. on the United Methodist Church with Pastor Anthony DeVaughn officiating. Calling hours will start at midday Monday, October 3, on the Jones & Eden Funeral Residence the place the household will obtain pals from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. Interment shall be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Ken was born November 29, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Allan and Florence (Steckel) Hanson. Ken graduated from Washington Senior Excessive Faculty in Washington, Iowa, and Iowa Wesleyan Faculty in Mt. Nice, Iowa. Ken was united in marriage to Rosemary Theobald on September 24, 1966, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Military in 1972.
Ken owned and operated Iowa Bridge & Culvert, previously Hanson Concrete, and was a Corridor of Fame inductee for the Related Basic Contractors of Iowa. On the time of his passing, he was on the board of administrators for the Riverside On line casino and the Washington County Hospital Basis and offered steering for a number of neighborhood funding initiatives, together with the YMCA of Washington County and the United Methodist Church. He served as former board president of the Washington County Hospital Board of Trustees, was energetic with the Washington Space Performing Arts and Occasions Heart steering committee, and contributed to many causes all through Washington. In 2021, Ken’s neighborhood dedication was acknowledged with the Invoice Sitler Rotary Group Service Award.
He beloved Washington, Iowa, and labored boundlessly for its betterment. Identified by many as Barney, Ken beloved time spent with pals on the Washington Golf and Nation Membership, the bowling alley, and his latest social enterprise, a weekly espresso conclave at Dodici. He was a Shriner, Free Mason, and member of Geese Limitless. Ken beloved the Iowa Hawkeyes, the St. Louis Cardinals, a powerful Manhattan, and wintering in Sanibel Island, Florida, together with his spouse Rosemary.
He’s survived by son, Eric Hanson and spouse Shannon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Greg Hanson and spouse Maria of North Liberty, Iowa; son, Nicholas Hanson and spouse Genevieve of Falls Church, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, Peter, Julian and Kirin Hanson; and his nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in dying by his dad and mom; spouse, Rosemary; brother, Don Hanson and sister-in-law, Julie Hanson.
