Iowa pastor returns from Ukraine

ROLAND, Iowa (KCCI) – An Iowa pastor is again house after spending 9 days in struggle torn Ukraine serving to these in want.

Pastor John Sheahan, with the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, stated he knew he wanted to go when the decision got here in.

He visited Ukraine in August. The pastor traveled with different chaplains to counsel refugees coping with trauma and loss.

Sheahan stated he was nervous for his security at some moments. He may see bombed buildings, army troops, and tanks throughout.

“You all the time had that behind your thoughts, there have been missile strikes whereas we have been there. Fortuitously, we weren’t close to any of them,” Sheahan stated.

He left refugees with a small wood cross, a token to encourage them to maintain their religion.

It’s one thing he stated he hopes will assist in an enormous approach to remind Ukrainians they need to stick with it.
