Iowa officials confident in election security as polls open Tuesday
DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) – Iowa election officers put collectively what they name a “dream staff” of officers to make sure the state’s election safety.
The staff consists of Homeland safety, Public Security, and the U.S. Cyber-security and Infrastructure Safety company.
Secretary of State Paul Pate mentioned the staff is specializing in cyber and bodily safety, misinformation, and extra.
Pate mentioned the staff will share data with the federal government on any potential threats or dangers in relation to the state’s elections.
“I can’t emphasize sufficient the integrity of the vote and the security of the voters are my prime priorities,” Pate mentioned. “We wish you to go on the market. We wish you to verify your voices are heard. We wish you to be a voter.”
Pate says since 2020, he hasn’t seen *any* widespread voter fraud.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. and shut at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
