Iowa men sentenced for selling vehicles with rolled back odometers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – On Friday, three males have been sentenced for promoting automobiles on the web after re-placing the automobiles’ odometers with the intention to promote the automobiles at a better value.

50-year-old Jerret Schreiber from Parkersburg, 33-year-old David Stangeland from Cedar Falls, and 36-year-old Dustin Arends from New Harford have been all sentenced as a part of their roles in commenting numerous ranges of tampering and/or fraud.

Schreiber was sentenced to six months in jail and 6 months house confinement after pleading responsible to wire fraud for his involvement within the sale of 17 automobiles. He was ordered to repay $90,832,55 in restitution to the victims of his offense.

Stangeland obtained one month in jail after pleading responsible to conspiracy to commit odometer fraud for his function within the sale of no less than 21 automobiles. He was ordered to repay $85,050 in restitution to the victims of his offense.

Arends obtained three years probation after pleading to odometer tampering for his involvement within the sale of no less than 6 automobiles. Arends was ordered to repay $23,200 in restitution to the victims of his offense.

There is no such thing as a parole within the federal system.
