Iowa inmate serving life sentence for kidnapping dies in prison

FORT DODGE, Iowa (WOWT) – An Iowa inmate sentenced to life in jail for kidnapping and different costs died over the weekend.

Based on the Iowa Division of Corrections, 56-year-old William Harrison Barbee was pronounced useless on Saturday, July 16.

Barbee died because of an sudden medical emergency whereas incarcerated on the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility, in accordance with the Division of Corrections.

Foul play isn’t suspected, and an post-mortem can be carried out by the State Medical Examiner to find out a reason for dying.

Barbee was serving a life sentence for a kidnapping cost out of Woodbury County, together with different costs out of Lee County. His sentence started on Nov. 23, 1983.
