Iowa City West, Xavier win Iowa boys state team tennis championships

Iowa Metropolis West gained the Class 2A Iowa boys state staff tennis championship Tuesday on the Prairie Ridge Tennis Advanced in Ankeny.

The second-seeded Trojans defeated top-seeded Nice Valley within the title matchup 5-1, profitable 5 of the six singles matches. They beat Waukee Northwest, 5-1, within the semifinals, and Nice Valley topped Valley, 5-0, within the different semifinal.

That is the seventh staff title up to now 10 years for Iowa Metropolis West.

In Class 1A, top-seeded Cedar Rapids Xavier beat second-seeded Pella, 5-2, to assert the state staff title, profitable 4 of six singles matches and the primary doubles match at Waveland Tennis Courts in Des Moines. Xavier beat Spencer, 5-0, and Pella beat Dubuque Wahlert, 5-3, within the semifinals.
