Campaign Almanac: Debates set for Eastern Iowa Congressional races

Candidates in Iowa-1 and Iowa-2 have agreed to debate on Iowa PBS, however not in Iowa-4

The candidates competing to symbolize Japanese Iowa’s two Congressional districts are set to debate in late September.

There was no such luck in Western Iowa’s lone Congressional district.

State Rep. Christina Bohannan, a Democrat from Iowa Metropolis, is difficult incumbent U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Ottumwa, in Japanese Iowa’s new 1st Congressional District. Their debate, hosted by Iowa PBS’ “Iowa Press,” can be 7 p.m. Sept. 26.

In Japanese Iowa’s new 2nd District, Rep. Ashley Hinson, a Republican from Marion, and challenger Liz Mathis, a Democrat from Hiawatha, agreed to an Iowa PBS debate at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18.

There can be no Iowa PBS debate for Western Iowa’s 4th District, as a result of Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra declined the station’s debate invitation with out motive, Iowa PBS spokeswoman Susan Ramsey instructed the Sioux Metropolis Journal.

Since Democratic challenger Ryan Melton had accepted Iowa PBS’ invitation to debate Feenstra, Melton will as a substitute seem as a visitor on Iowa PBS’ “Iowa Press” program. The episode with Melton will air at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 and midday on Sept. 25.

Within the race for governor, Republican incumbent Kim Reynolds agreed to a debate with Democratic challenger Deidre DeJear at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17.

NEW BOHANNAN AD: In her second advert, Democratic challenger in Iowa’s 1st District Christina Bohannan centered on rising costs.

Bohannan is looking for to unseat U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Ottumwa. It’s Bohannan’s second advert in what the marketing campaign mentioned can be a $1.7 million advert marketing campaign till Nov. 8.

Within the advert, she takes intention at Miller-Meeks, saying “costs hold going up and my opponent gained’t do something about it.”

“I’m Christina Bohannan, and right here’s what I’ll do. I’ll crack down on China’s unfair commerce practices, massive oil firms gouging us on the pump, and firms unfairly jacking up costs and freeze the fuel tax.”

Miller-Meeks launched her first advert earlier this week as a part of what her marketing campaign mentioned can be a $2 million advert marketing campaign by means of Election Day.
