IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The EAA’s 1929 Ford Tri-Motor airplane spent the weekend in Iowa City flying people over the area and teaching them first hand about aviation history.

Members of the local EAA Chapter 33 hosted the event.

The plane also provided an up close experience for children interested in aviation such as Payton.

Peyton, a 13 year old girl who flew in the plane said “Me personally, I feel like maybe in the future if this is in my path I may want to try and learn how to fly planes because that seems like really cool.”

The President of EAA Chapter 33, Keith Huebner, noted it provided a chance for kids to learn and experience flying in a low stress environment.

Huebner said “It’s a great way to introduce them to aviation where they’re not in the hurry of air travel. It’s a little bit more intimate.”
