SVSU manhandles Indianapolis to end losing streak

Saginaw Valley State College broke its two-game dropping streak, handing Indianapolis its first lack of the season.

The Cardinals scored 31 consecutive factors to earn a 38-14 house win Saturday over Indianapolis to enhance to 5-2 after struggling back-to-back losses to Grand Valley State and Ferris State.

SVSU took a 14-7 lead after one quarter when Grand Valley State switch Derek Thomason blocked a punt and returned it 21 yards for a rating. After Torinao Clinton answered with a 12-yard TD run for Indianapolis, Coby Newburg scored on a 1-yard run for a 14-7 lead.

The Cardinals took a 24-7 lead into halftime after Central Florida switch Andrew Brito hit Lawrence Tech switch Derrick Hinton for a 15-yard TD and Connor Luksic kicked a 35-yard subject objective.

SVSU elevated the result in 38-7 within the third quarter when Brito hit Michigan Lutheran Seminary graduate Andrew Schroeder for a 24-yard landing and Hinton for a 74-yarder to complete the SVSU scoring.

Christian Conkling, who threw for 284 yards, put one other landing on the board for Indianapolis with a 5-yard TD go to Kevin McNelis.

Isaiah Malcome, a switch from Penn, led SVSU in speeding with 69 yards, whereas MLS graduate Casey Williams caught three passes for 44 yards and accomplished a go for 34 yards.  Briton accomplished 8 of 18 passes for 181 yards.
