Southwest Cancels Thousands Of Flights, You’re Urged To Check Before You Travel

INDIANAPOLIS — Southwest Airways canceled practically 80-percent of its scheduled flights nationwide Monday, and much more cancellations are occurring right this moment.

In response to FlightAware Monday night time, Southwest listed 43 flights to and from Indianapolis Worldwide Airport as canceled.

Southwest Airways has already canceled 31 of its flights for Tuesday out and in of Indianapolis. That’s greater than half of its scheduled flights for IND.

As of seven p.m. EST, FlightAware reviews Southwest has canceled 1,608 flights complete (U.S. and worldwide), which is 40% of its schedule.

Southwest had canceled greater than 2,600 of its complete flights by late Monday afternoon, 64% of its schedule, as the corporate fought lingering points from this previous weekend’s large winter storm.

No different main U.S. service had canceled greater than 15% of its flights.

“With consecutive days of maximum winter climate throughout our community behind us, persevering with challenges are impacting our Clients and Staff in a major method that’s unacceptable,” Southwest wrote in a press release to CNN. “We’re working with Security on the forefront to urgently handle wide-scale disruption by rebalancing the airline and repositioning Crews and our fleet finally to greatest serve all who plan to journey with us. On the opposite facet of this, we’ll work to make issues proper for these we’ve let down, together with our Staff.”

The U.S. Division of Transportation calls the cancellations “unacceptable” and that they are going to be investigating.
