Powerful New England Mafia boss dies in prison

(CNN) — Francis “Cadillac Frank” Salemme, the previous Mafia boss of the New England Household of La Cosa Nostra who was serving life in jail for the 1993 killing of a Boston nightclub proprietor, has died on the age of 89, based on the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Salemme died on December 13 at the US Medical Middle for Federal Prisoners Springfield in Missouri, Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesman Donald Murphy instructed CNN. The workplace doesn’t share a reason behind loss of life for any inmate for security, safety and privateness causes, he mentioned.

He was discovered responsible for the homicide of nightclub proprietor Steven DiSarro, and was serving a life sentence, based on a 2018 information launch by the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace, District of Massachusetts.

DiSarro ran a nightclub in South Boston that Salemme and his son had monetary curiosity in. As federal investigators narrowed in on the Salemmes, they approached DiSarro and requested him to cooperate, officers mentioned within the launch.
