INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Some Indianapolis Colts fans on Wednesday were surprised to hear the announcement that Anthony Richardson will start for the rest of the season.

They were happy to have him back, though.

Sang Nguyen, a Colts season ticket holder, said, “Surprised but I am very happy for Anthony Richardson to get a second opportunity, but he will learn from his mistakes.”

Ray Bridges is another season ticketholder. He is also known as “Colts Tuba Guy” online and at every home game because he brings his tuba to Lucas Oil Stadium to play during games.

“I think it’s the right decision,” Bridges said. “I understand why 2.5 games ago, I understand why they took him out and put (Joe) Flacco in. I even understood starting Flacco one game.”

Both season ticket holders acknowledge the team might stumble, but management needs to look at what Richardson can do for the organization in the long term.

“From the beginning, the Colts looked at him to draft him as the quarterback, the franchise quarterback. He’s still a rookie,” Sang said. “He’s second-year, but he’s still a rookie. He does not have a full year under his belt yet. So, I love to see him doing well and I think he will.”

“We knew he was going to be a project,” Bridges said. “We thought if we were lucky he might hit immediately and be really successful, but I think most people knew it was going to be a good two to three years at least, and, looking to the future, Flacco is not the future of the team.”

Both men say the decision was not the end for the Colts, and a few wins in the upcoming games could change the course of the season.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis woman was arrested in connection to the murder of a man in the Barton Towers apartments on Sept. 25.

During a welfare check, Forest Hill Jr., 65, was found in a bloody apartment, still clutching money in his hand, dead from multiple stab wounds, according to court documents.

Tationa Sims, 30, was charged Wednesday with the involuntary manslaughter of Hill in Marion Superior Court 31.

Sims told police she was homeless when she met Hill. She would come and go from Hill’s apartment for a sexual relationship, but it ended after two weeks.

Leading up to Hill’s death, security footage showed Hill entering his apartment with Sims. She left the apartment, disposing of a knife.

Sims claims that Hill became more aggressive and was taking drugs when “he put his hands on me and started kicking me and taking control like he was going to hurt me, and I stabbed him.”

After Sims left, she told police she called her mom, threw the knife away, and ran into Hill’s friend in the lobby of the apartments. Instead of calling for help, Sims “told him what happened and I told him to go help him, that’s it.”

Sims said that Hill egged her on in the stabbing, “like he was just wanting me to do something to him,” later claiming that he would talk about suicidal ideation with her.

Sims told police that she did not know that Hill had died from his injuries.

Detectives got a screenshot of a text message as an anonymous tip, sent by someone texting with Sims. The anonymous tip claimed that Sims sent the text. She had shared a link to the story of Hill’s death, commenting “self-defense I had too (with a smiling emoji).”

Hill had just been released from prison. His family told News 8 on Sept. 26 that he had wanted to make a new life for himself.

Indianapolis police are investigating the death of a man found dead in a tanning bed at a Planet Fitness gym Monday morning.

The man was identified as Derek Sink, 39, by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. 

Sink had went into a tanning bed on Friday, his family told NBC affiliate WTHR of Indianapolis. 

When he failed to come home, his family reported him missing. His aunt said that Sink was wearing an ankle monitor which led investigators to determine he never left the gym. He was ultimately located in the tanning bed at the gym, located in the 8000 block of Hardegan Street, on Monday morning. 

Family said that Sink had struggled with drugs and a needle was found in the room with him. 

Marion Superior Court records show Sink had been charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of a controlled substance last year. In a plea agreement to the first charge, he was sentenced to one year of home detention including drug testing, which started in May.

It’s not clear how Sink went unnoticed for so long.

The coroner’s office has not yet determined a cause or manner of death as of Wednesday morning.  Indianapolis Metro Police says the death investigation is ongoing.

Elizabeth Len was at that Planet Fitness Monday morning before law enforcement discovered Sink.

She said that she and other members noticed a bad smell in the building near the tanning rooms. “The tanning bed has a door, I believe, but still, why are we not concerned that the tanning bed has been closed for three days, potentially?” Len said to WTHR.

Planet Fitness’ Chief Corporate Affairs Officer McCall Gosselin said in a statement: “We were deeply saddened by the passing of one of our members, and the franchise owner is working with the local authorities in their investigation.”

“At Planet Fitness, we have robust operational brand protocols in place, as the safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. We are working closely with our local franchisee to ensure they are upholding those brand protocols,” Gosselin added.
