INDIANAPOLIS — Gregory Meriweather, a neighborhood advisor, formally introduced his marketing campaign to run for mayor of Indianapolis in 2023.

Meriweather, previously a group initiatives strategist for IMPD below the Hogsett administration, is the third Democrat to enter their title into the race.

He’s the third black candidate to announce a marketing campaign for the 2023 mayoral election, becoming a member of State Rep. Robin Shackleford (Democrat) and pastor James Jackson (Republican).

Every is making an attempt to turn out to be the town’s first ever black mayor.

In his announcement on Friday, Meriweather says his plan is to provide a voice to people who are neglected inside the metropolis.

“As I run, I perceive that this is not going to be a politician’s ordinary marketing campaign,” Meriweather mentioned. “I stand on the shoulders of those that are neglected, those that will not be listened to and those that are overstepped.”

Meriweather continued.

“As of right now, in the event you’re in search of a candidate that represents the group in a method that has by no means been represented earlier than, Gregory Meriweather is throwing his title within the hat.”
