Lawsuit over man fatally shot by Indianapolis police settled
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A wrongful dying lawsuit filed by the mom of a person fatally shot whereas being chased by a police officer in Indianapolis has been settled for $390,000.
The settlement was reached Jan. 31, WRTV-TV reported Friday.
“This settlement shouldn’t be construed as an admission of any legal responsibility or wrongdoing,” acknowledged the settlement, which the tv station says was offered by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Division.
Filed in June 2020 by Demetree Wynn, the federal lawsuit named the town, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Division’s chief and deputy chief, and the officer who shot Dreasjon Reed.
That lawsuit alleged the police division didn’t adequately practice, display screen and supervise officers to forestall them from partaking in extreme or lethal pressure.
